There is word through the grapevine that some are receiving buyout offers, due to SLU’s significant financial troubles.
Of course, here at non-transparent SLU, the whole program and process are secret. The administration has not shared the existence of the program with the university community.
It’s unknown what criteria are being used to determine who receives an offer and who doesn’t. It’s also unknown whether the offers are being informed by the Academic Portfolio Review process in an effort to hasten the elimination of certain programs. (One hopes these are indeed merely “offers”—that recipients are free to decline.)
As is so often the case at SLU, one is left asking, why the secrecy? Is there something to hide?
